BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Union College’s Ljiljana Pajcin is the NAIA National’s Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday.
Pajcin was selected based on her performance from March 12-March 18 and was chosen out of a pool of conference, Association of Independent Institutions and unaffiliated group winners.
Pajcin, a sophomore from Belgrade, Serbia, won all four of the matches she was involved in against Tennessee Wesleyan and No. 24 Reinhardt (Ga.) as Union won those matches by the scores of 7-2 and 5-4, respectively.
She posted a 6-0, 6-0 win in the No. 2 singles match and teamed up with Isidora Petkovic (SO/Belgrade. Serbia) for an 8-0 win in the No. 1 doubles match on Thursday against the Bulldogs of Tennessee Wesleyan. On Sunday, Pajcin defeated Reinhardt with a 6-0, 6-0 in No. 2 singles, and an 8-1 in No.1 doubles with Petkovic again.
On the year, Pajcin is currently 9-0 in singles play and 9-0 in doubles matches.
This past week Pajcin also set the school record by winning 60 consecutive wins. Her 60th win came against Tennessee Wesleyan on Friday.
