Union’s Duronslet Collects AAC Player of the Week Honors

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Union College senior K.J. Duronslet is the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season.

The league made the announcement on Monday.

Duronslet previously received the award on Nov. 26.

The 6-foot-3 guard and the Bulldogs only played one game last week, but Duronslet posted his fourth double-double in a row in helping Union to an 82-81 win over then-No. 7 IU East. Duronslet hit 13-of-18 shots (72.2 percent) from the field in pouring a game- and season-high 29 points. He also hauled in 19 rebounds, equaling his career high.

Duronslet first pulled down 19 rebounds against Truett McConnell University (Ga.) on Jan. 27, 2018.

The double-double is his sixth of the season.

On the year, Duronslet is averaging 13.6 points and 10.0 rebounds per game to go along with 29 assists and 24 steals. He ranks nationally in seven statistical categories, which are:

  • Offensive rebounds per game (3.25), 17th;
  • Rebounds per game (10.0), 18th;
  • Steals per game (2.0), 22nd;
  • Defensive rebounds per game (6.75), 28th;
  • Total rebounds (120), 28th;
  • Steals (24), 29th;
  • And field-goal percentage (0.569), 31st.

Union is ranked No. 7 in the latest NAIA Division II Top 25 Poll and owns a 10-2 overall record. The Bulldogs are 6-0 in AAC play.

Next on the schedule for Union is a trip to Kentucky Christian University on Monday, Dec. 31. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
