On March 18, 2025, Ruth Epperson Wagers left this earthly world for a far better home, in Heaven. Ruth was born on January 20, 1931 to the late Chester and Sudie Epperson, in Flat Lick.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Tilford Wagers, her brother, Don Epperson and wife, LuAnn, and nephew, Pete Epperson.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Wagers Jackson and husband, William; two grandchildren, Tony Jackson and Susan Miller and husband, Aaron; four great-grandchildren, Katelyn Jackson Woods and husband, Matt, Margaret Miller, Charles Miller, and Marcus Jackson. She also leaves behind a brother, Chester Epperson and wife, Billie; a sister, Phyllis King and husband, Barney; and nieces and nephews, Lydia, Royce, Donnie, Brad, Jeff, and Doug.
Ruth was born with a green thumb and loved planting flowers and gardening on her farm. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, quilting, word searches and sharing recipes with friends. She believed in hard work, perseverance, honesty, and helping others in need. Ruth was sometimes known to have a stubborn streak and was a force to be reckoned with when standing firmly for her beliefs and values.
Ruth made the world a better place to live in because of her love of nature, family, and helping others. She will be greatly missed, but her family will always carry her teachings and loving memory in their hearts as they “smile, open their eyes, love, and go on”.
