Knox Central continues to dominate competition in the area on Friday night with a 71-47 victory over 51st District foe Pineville. The Panthers fresh off an emotional championship victory over Corbin in the Cumberland Falls Invitational Tournament saw themselves in a 9-2 hole against the Mountain Lions early in the first quarter.

With Senior Markelle Turner not dressed for the game due to an injury, the Panthers could only manage a 15-15 tie at the end of one. It didn’t take Knox Central long into the second quarter to find their pace as Junior Guard Jaylen Adams took control of the game.

Adams scored 11 of his game high 27 points in the second quarter to give the Panthers a 34-27 advantage at the half. The Panthers held Pineville to only a seven point third quarter to extend the lead to 19 after three quarters, 53-37. Knox Central won going away, 71-47 to improve to 13-1 on the season and 1-0 in District play.
Note: Adams was named the Bingham Tire and Oil Player of the Game.
The Panthers will welcome Barbourville to their gym on Monday, Jan. 5. Tip time is set for 7:30 PM.
