Mrs. Zelma Woolum, 89, of Barbourville, passed away Sunday morning, December 15, 2024 at the home of her daughter in Milford, OH. She was born on November 11, 1935 at Artemus, to the late Evy and Marie Massengill Russ.
Zelma was a former nurse, a born again believer and a member of the Advent Christian Church. She loved quilting, working puzzles, shopping yard sales, going to the beach and was an avid gardener. She also loved to read magazines and enjoyed collecting tea cups and saucers. One of her greatest joys in life was her family. She was a devoted grandmother and the love she had for them knew no bounds.
On March 7, 1953, she united in marriage with Paul James “P. J.” Woolum, who preceded her in death.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Ann West and brothers, Matt Harrell Russ and Elmer Russ.
Survivors include her loving daughters, Judy Kay Woolum Darling and husband, Jerry, of Milford, OH and Debra Paula Graham of Toney, AL; brothers, Don, Larry Wayne and Clell Russ; cherished grandchildren, Casey Byrd, Katie Graham, Rachel Darling and Amanda Caballero; great grandchildren, Camilo, Timothy, Poppy June and Georgia; a special neighbor, Roger Folyer; special friend, Tiffany Moore; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Thursday, December 19 at 1 P.M. with Dr. Tyler Shields officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be family and friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday after 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.
