Obituary for William “Red” McKinley Johnson, Jr. (1946-2020)

Mr. William “Red” McKinley Johnson Jr., 74, of LaFollette, TN, formerly of London, the widower of Terry Caudill Johnson, passed away Tuesday morning, December 22, 2020 at the LaFollette Medical Center.  He was the son of the late William McKinley and Ruth Ann Moles Johnson born on May 20, 1946 in Bell County.

Red was a former coal truck driver and heavy equipment operator and a member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church at Keavy.  He enjoyed fishing, coon hunting and watching Kentucky basketball.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Lou Smiddy and two brothers, Billy Ray and Edward Arthur Johnson.

Survivors include two children, Virginia McDonald and husband, Rev. James, of Artemus and Jonathan Johnson and wife, Angela, of Moultrie, GA; a sister, Wanda Jean Dozier and husband, Barney E., of Kouts, IN; three grandchildren, Addie McDonald, Cailin McDonald and Aiden Douglas Johnson; several nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.

A graveside memorial service will be conducted in the Rough Creek Cemetery in Laurel County Sunday, January 3, 2021 at 3 P.M. with Rev. James McDonald officiating.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Cumberland Village in LaFollette for their excellent care.

Expressions of sympathy may go to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
