William David Simpson, 83, of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away Monday, February 5, 2024, at Baptist Health Corbin. Born December 28, 1940, in Barbourville, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Green Simpson and Flossie King Simpson.
Bill was a member of New Hope Ministries Church of God and a veteran of the United States Air Force.
In addition to his father and mother, he was preceded in death by five siblings: Eddie, Frank, Abe, Betty, and Ted.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years, Sue Simpson; daughter, Christy McBurney and husband Cliff; daughter, Kim Simpson; granddaughter, Casie McBurney; sister, Margaret Jane Johnannsen; brother-in-law, Buster Patterson; niece, Theresa Patterson; special friend/caregiver, Orva Lee Osbourne; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Jay. He is also survived by his New Hope Family and Young at Heart Family.
Called “Poppy Bill” by his family, Bill enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, especially traveling. Always friendly and outgoing, he made an effort to make and keep friends by showing genuine concern.
Bill was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 10, 2024, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Michael Addison and Buster Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in Lynn Camp Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 P.M. Saturday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.
