Mr. William Carl Miller Sr., 84, of Artemus, passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 2, 2025 at the Mountain View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Pineville. He was the son of the late Mary T. Rhodes and William “Bill” Morgan Miller born August 7, 1940 in Knox County.
Carl was a former supervisor for E.K. Wood Products and owner of the former W & D Coal Company. He enjoyed mornings with his McDonald’s Breakfast Club buddies, being outdoors and hunting. He had a special love for fishing and would often make custom rods and reels for himself. He was also a talented woodworker and took pride in keeping a well maintained lawn. Carl was of the Baptist faith.
In June of 1965, he united in marriage with Maudie Hammons, who preceded him in death.
In addition to his parents and wife, Maudie, he was preceded in death by a beloved daughter, Delora Ann Bruner; brothers, Jess, Walter and Cecil Miller; sisters, Sadie Miller, Marie Arnett, Stella Melton and Delora Campbell; special squirell dog, Otto.
Survivors include his loving son, William Carl “Dobbin” Miller Jr. of Artemus; special niece, Soandra Campbell; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Tuesday, April 8 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Samuel Lawson officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Serving as casket bearers will be Donnie Lawson, Danny Angel, Marvin Roark, Tony Mills and Kendall Frost.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
