Obituary for William “Bill” Ledford (1952-2022)

Mr. William “Bill” Ledford age 70 of Barbourville, Kentucky passed away October 5, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Bill was the son of Dan Smith Ledford and Verley (Spurlock) Ledford born to them on August 13, 1952 in Harlan, Kentucky.

Bill was a retired coal miner of over twenty years. He was a member and deacon of the House of Refuge Holiness Church of Girdler, Kentucky where he would occasionally preach and sing. He enjoyed playing the bass guitar. It was Bill’s character though that he will be most remembered for. He was known for his sweet personality; he was a selfless man giving to others in need. He devoted a lot of his time working in the food pantry his church operates, helping to feed the hungry in his community. Bill loved his family and enjoyed spending his time with them, but he loved his Lord most of all, always putting him first. He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, grand-dogs and hosting family get-togethers with cookouts and sitting around the campfire roasting hotdogs and s’mores. He was a big fan of the Andy Griffith show. He also enjoyed fishing and finding yard sale treasures.

In addition to his parents, Smith and Verley Ledford, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Vivian Noe and Evelyn Austin.

Left behind to mourn his passing, his loving wife Sheila Ann Ledford of Barbourville, son Rev. Nathan Ledford and wife Samantha, both of Barbourville, grandchildren, Olivia Brown and husband Dillon Brown of Arjay, Kentucky, Levi Ledford of Barbourville, his grand-dog fur babies, Grayce and Ivy, sister Charlestine Huston of Zionsville, Indiana, brothers, Jack Ledford and wife Jane, Charlie and wife Snady Ledford all of Barbourville, sister, Frances (Judy) and husband RG of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, brother Gary Ledford of London, Kentucky. He also leaves behind a host of many other nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
