Mrs. Willa Sue Mills, 72, of Turkey Creek, passed away in the early morning of Sunday, July 11, 2021 at Baptist Health Corbin. She was the daughter of Ora Lee Mills Bargo Puckett and the late Rev. Obie Bargo born on September 19, 1948 at Scalf.
Willa was a legal secretary for attorney, John C. Dixon, until her retirement. She was a member of the Turkey Creek Baptist Church. Willa was a graduate of Northmont High School in Dayton, OH. In her younger years, she enjoyed singing gospel music and later in life enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, who she loved so much. She also enjoyed keeping in touch with family and friends on Facebook and working online puzzles.
On November 26, 1987, she united in marriage with Whitley Mills in Barbourville.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Kay Uhlig and an infant brother, Tommy Bargo.
Survivors include her loving husband, who gave her so much love and care during her illness, Whitley Mills of Turkey Creek; two daughters, Lee Ann Smith of Turkey Creek and Megan Peavley and husband, Erik, of Barbourville; two step-daughters, Teresa Hammons and husband, Skip, of Barbourville and Linda Bowling and husband, Mike, of London; sisters, Carol Smith and husband, Ronnie, of London, Donna Kinnison and husband, Scott, of West Alexandria, OH, Tammy Hampton and husband, Carl, of Hammersville, OH and Teresa Cobb and husband, Wade, of Corbin; cherished grandchildren, Patrick Grady and fiancé, Heidi, Christian Carter and wife, Katrina, Molly Bargo, Jonah Peavley and Hallie Kay Peavley; step-grandchildren, Will Hammons, Aryn, Maycee and Madelyn Bowling; great grandchildren, Sundai Rose, Izzy, Liam, Reyane, Luna, Kadeem and Kayleeona; several brothers and sisters-in-law; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Thursday, July 15 at 7 P.M. with Rev. Cleo Goodlett, Rev. David Barnard and Rev. Josh Griffith officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Mills and Broughton Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Wade Cobb IV, Wade Cobb III, Shawn Smith, Ben Liford, Erik Peavley, James Edwards, Skip Hammons, Will Hammons, Mike Bowling and Doug Dozier.
The family would like to offer their sincere thanks to the Knox County Health Department, Knox County EMS, Baptist Health Corbin PCU staff and Palliative Care and Doug and Opal Dozier for the love and care given to Willa during her illness.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday after 4 P.M. until the funeral hour. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home Friday at 10 A.M. and go together to the cemetery.
