Mr. Wendell Ralph Patterson, 92, of Bimble, passed away Friday morning, January 7, 2022 at his home. He was the son of the late Mack and Roise Mae Clark Patterson born on January 27, 1929 in Knox County.
During his working career, he owned and operated Knox Construction Company in Barbourville, Patterson Lumber Company at Flat Lick and a small car crushing business.
Mr. Patterson was also a mason for 65 years who belonged to Mountain Lodge 187 F&AM. He always enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends. Mr. Patterson especially looked forward to family get-togethers during the holidays. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War.
On May 8, 1954, he united in marriage with Jesse Ruth Glasscock and to this union two daughters were born.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three sisters, Dora Patterson, Cormaleda Patterson Marion and Daisy Patterson and two brothers, Harold Patterson and Hugh Tom Patterson.
Survivors include his loving wife of over 67 years, Ruth Patterson of Bimble; two daughters, Tammy Badger of Frankfort and Suzann Satterfield and husband, Steve, of Barbourville; three grandchildren, Trevor Satterfield and wife, Afton, and Alex and Craig Badger; two great-grandchildren, Jaxson Willis and Coraline Rose Satterfield; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, January 15 at 1 P.M. with Don Hammond officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Glasscock Cemetery with military funeral honors.
Serving as casket bearers will be Craig Badger, Dennis Jordan, Rex Patterson, Wave Mooneyham, Alva Patterson and Vernon Liford.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday after 11:30 A.M. until the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of Knox Funeral Home.
The family requests that all visitors wear a facial covering and practice social distancing during the visitation and funeral service.
