Mr. Wayne Black, 75, of Edgemoor, SC entered the gates of heaven on November 5, 2023. He was born on September 18, 1948 in Flat Lick, Kentucky to Esther Bain Black and Wayne Douglas Black Sr.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Alana Black, son Bert Black, brothers Calvin R. Black, Randall Black, and brother-in-law Gary Barton.
He served in the US Army from May 23, 1968 to May 16, 1970, and worked for CSX Railroad for over 44 years. His son, Bert, had followed in his fathers footsteps as an avid railroad fan.
Wayne will forever be remembered as a True Servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. He was a devoted husband, father, and friend to many. He was always looking for opportunities to help those in need and did it with a caring and joyful heart. He was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church in Rock Hill, where he spent much time serving and praising God.
Wayne made an impact in the lives of many people and we will forever be grateful and remember the stories he shared, lessons he taught, examples he set as a follower of Christ, and the love he shared. He truly depicted what love was intended to look like by God.
He is survived by his sisters Marietta Doolin (Terry W.) and Virginia Sue Barton, his brother George Thomas Black (Gloria), sister-in-law Thelma Black, nephews Chris Black, and Bradley Robbins, and his “adopted” family, the Flores and McFalls households.
Visitation will take place at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home in Rock Hill on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at 3:00pm, service at 4:00pm, and a Committal Service to follow.
