Mrs. Virginia Ann McDonald, 57, of Artemus, passed away Tuesday morning, November 12, 2024 at her home. She was born on January 18, 1967 in Laurel County, the daughter of Bernice Gregory Zgoda and the late William Johnson Jr.
Virginia was a former quality inspector with Aisin and a member of the Callihan Baptist Church. She was a compassionate person who devoted her time and energy as a caregiver and supported her daughters in school activities and often served as the “bus driver” for their schoolmates traveling to various school events. Virginia also served along side her husband as a missionary, spreading the Gospel to others and enjoyed serving as the camp cook at Emmanuel Bible Camp. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, mother-in-law, sister, aunt and friend.
On August 14, 1999, she united in marriage with James E. McDonald and to this union two daughters were born.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her “Pops”, John Zgoda and grandparents, Jim and Mary Gregory.
Survivors include her loving husband, Rev. James E. McDonald of Artemus; her mother, Bernice Zgoda of Davis Bend; cherished daughters, Addie Elizabeth Hembree and husband, Dakota, and Cailin McDonald all of Artemus; a sister, Heather Johnson and husband, Marty, of Mason, OH and their children, Clarissa and Mya; brothers, Mike Zgoda and wife, Tami, of Phoenix, AZ and their children, Stacey, Mason and Michael and Jonathan Johnson and wife, Angela, of Searcy, AR and their son, Aiden; sisters-in-law, Megan Partin of Flat Lick and her children, Joshua, Peyton and Dawson, Kendra Gray and husband, Jay, of Barbourville and their children, Gabe and Aaron, and Lesa Partin and husband, Shane, of Artemus and their children, Lily-Ann and Savannah Jean; her camp work girls; her church family; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Sunday, November 17 at 3 P.M. with Rev. Jeffrey Branum and Rev. Sam Moore officiating. She will be laid to rest at a later date in the Rough Creek Cemetery in Laurel County.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Saturday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Sunday after 10 A.M. until the funeral hour.
