Mrs. Vina Marie Mills, 79, of Scalf, the widow of Lonzo Mills, passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 2, 2022 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital. She was the daughter of the late William and Lucy Saylor Sizemore born on May 6, 1942 in Knox County.
Vina was a homemaker and member of the Jeff’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed making quilts, gardening, going to flea markets and especially loved taking care of her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Joe Mills; a daughter-in-law, Rebecca Gibson Mills; sisters, Leona North, Roberta Grubb and Lizzie North and husband, John, and brothers, T. J. Sizemore and wife, Gladys, and Virgil Sizemore and wife, Valmarie.
Survivors include her loving children, Lonnie Mills of Barbourville, Janet Carnes and husband, Gary, of Gray, Gary Mills and Jennifer Mills and husband, Jerry, all of Scalf and Jamie Mills of Barbourville; a brother, Albert Sizemore and wife, Allie, of Gray; a brother-in-law, David Grubb of Rockholds; 14 grandchildren, Cassie Grace and husband, Stephen, Jessica Evans and husband, John, Justin Carnes and wife, Sarah, Nicholas Mills and wife, Allie, Charity Mills, Corey Carnes and wife, Heather, Caleb, Casey, Amber, Christian, Alexis, McKenzi, Caitlin and Madison Mills; step-grandchildren, Nathan Parks, Christy Smith, Haley Bowling and Zachary Mills; 10 great grandchildren and two more expected to arrive soon; several nieces, nephews and cousins; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Sunday, March 6 at 2 P.M. She will be laid to rest in the Larkin Bargo Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be family and friends.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. West, staff and nurses at the Barbourville ARH Hospital.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Sunday prior to the funeral hour.
