Mrs. Velma Gail Sturdivant, 61, of Hinkle, passed away Thursday afternoon, July 8, 2021 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard. She was the daughter of the late Miphra and Addie L. Harrison Mosley born on November 24, 1959 in Virginia.
Velma was a homemaker and a member of the Trosper Church of God. She was a caregiver to the elderly and loved ones, enjoyed fishing, camping and especially spending time with her family.
On September 2, 1979, she united in marriage with David Sturdivant and to this union three children were born.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lillian Davis.
Survivors include her beloved children, Robin Sturdivant and Art Harker of Hinkle, Brent Sturdivant and Kim of Barbourville and Amy Claiborne of Flat Lick; two sisters, Janis Stidham of Big Stone Gap, VA and Bonnie Marie Rhodes of Middlesboro; two brothers, Lonnie Mosley and wife, Joyce, of Harrogate, TN and Sammie Mosley of St. Paul, VA; ten treasured grandchildren, Dee Dee Sturdivant and fiancé, Johnny, Natasha Helton and fiancé, Terry, Georgia Messer, Page Messer and fiancé, Mark, Sunshine Sanders, James Michael Allen Sturdivant, Shawn Douglas Bryant, Jonathan Marcum, Marissa Marcum and Kaitlyn Marcum; four great grandchildren, Addiegail Jr. Broughton, Robin Rae Sturdivant, Johnny Ray Hubbard Jr. and Skylar Marie Cupp; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Tuesday, July 13 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Glenn Collins officiating. Cremation will follow the service.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday between 6 and 8 P.M. and Tuesday prior to the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
