Mr. Thomas L. “Tommy” Marlow, 63, of Himyar, passed away Monday morning, November 11, 2019 at his home. He was the son of the late J. T. and Bernice White Marlow born on March 3, 1956 in Pineville.
Tommy was a Knox County school bus driver, former coal miner, had worked in the construction of the Cumberland Gap tunnel and was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church. He was an avid motorcyclist, fisherman, hunter and was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel.
On July 13, 1985, he united in marriage with Sandy Rose.
Survivors include his loving wife of 34 years, Sandy Marlow of Himyar; a sister, Patricia Fisher and her son, Christopher and daughters, Kim and Tonya all of Batavia, OH; a brother-in-law, Randy Rose and wife, Chari, and their daughter, Grace, all of Ewing, VA; two sons; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Thursday, November 14 at 12 noon with Rev. Mike Helton and Rev. Josh Smith officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Jeff Ketcham, Greg Warren, Steve Jones, Ken Wagers, Denny Bargo and Mike White. Honorary bearers will be employees of the Knox County Board of Education Transportation Department.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Thursday prior to the funeral hour.
Expressions of sympathy may go to Knox County athletics in his memory.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
