Mr. Thomas “Tom” J. Hinkle, 59, of Corbin, passed away Thursday evening, January 18, 2024 at his home. He was the son of the late James “Jim” Thomas and Christine Allen Hinkle born on November 21, 1964 in Barbourville.
Tom was a long-time registered nurse at several hospitals including Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, where he was a house supervisor for many years. He also enjoyed his time as a flight nurse and was a former assistant DES Director. Tom was of the Pentecostal faith, loved traveling and spending time with his grandchildren.
On February 14, 1987, he united in marriage with Jowanna Dozier and to this union three children were born.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant child; a sister, Wilma Kuhn, a niece, Shavon Mills; two brothers-in-law, Charles Garland and Byon McWilliams; grandparents, Martha Hyden and James Abe Hinkle and Fannie Payne and Charlie Allen; and a pet, Sugar.
Survivors include his loving children, Jared T. Hinkle and wife, Tori, of Bimble and Jeremy A. Hinkle and wife, Meagan, of Barbourville; siblings, Uneeda McWilliams, Martha Garland, Jerry Smith and husband, Kenneth, Vivian Messer and husband, Johnny, Eva Haban and husband, Joe, and Jimmy Hinkle and wife, Sandy, all of Barbourville; treasured grandchildren, Jeremiah, Olivia, Jase, Madalyn and Payton Hinkle; 26 nieces and nephews; 44 great nieces and nephews; seven great-great nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Dan Kuhn of Corbin; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, January 27 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Samuel Lawson and Dennis Messer officiating.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Friday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Saturday prior to the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
