Mr. Theodore “Doyle” Trent, 84, of Heidrick, passed away Saturday afternoon, August 24, 2024. He was the son of the late John Robert and Ellen White Trent born on October 7, 1939 in Clay County.
Doyle was a welder for over 65 years, a heavy equipment mechanic and a member of the Antioch Baptist Church. He enjoyed racing, mowing and spending time with his grandchildren.
On December 22, 1979, he united in marriage with Barbara Morris.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Emmaleigha Elliott; siblings, Tye, Curtis, Nathan, John Jr., Virgle, Cecil and Lorena Trent, Thelma Wallace, Jean Jarrett, Grace McKinney, Esther Brock and Connie Hobbs; parents-in-law, Carl and Georgia Morris and a daughter-in-law, Michelle Wilson.
Survivors include his loving wife, Barbara Morris Trent of Heidrick; children, Randy Wilson of Flat Lick, Rita Wilson of Heidrick, Doylynn and Drew Walker of Barbourville and Terry Mills of Detroit, MI; sisters, Carolyn Wombles and husband, David, of Clay County and Barbara Foster and husband, Zeke, of Bimble; treasured grandchildren, Candice Elliott, Amanda Jones, John Wilson, Jeremy Wilson and wife, Trish, Cody Wilson and wife, Shelly, Brittany Merritt and husband, Matthew, Zoey Hoskins, Clayton, Corbin and Cheyanne Walker, Travis Wilson and wife, Jenna, and Dustin Liford; great grandchildren, Marena Cain, Benjamin Elliott, Spencer and Keagan Nivens, Rodney Cain, Ariana and Kaylee Smith, A. J. and Alyssa Wilson, Odin Merritt, Ariana and Ayden Eaton; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, August 31 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Vernon Morris, Rev. Justin Morris and Rev. William R. “Man” Cobb officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Blevins Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Bob Corey, Adam Soper, Jeff Corey, Donnie Wayne Hudson, Matthew Merritt, Andrew Walker and Baylenn Barnett. Serving as honorary bearers will be Dr. Paul Cooney and Access Family Health, Darryl Wilson, Randy Centers, Roger Gregory, Walter Farmer, Gary Asher, Denver Lee Jackson, Dr. Marcum and Baptist Health ER and staff of 3 North Wing, Stephanie Sears, APRN, Dr. James West and the staff of Barbourville ARH Hospital, Synthia Sowders and ARH PT, Barbourville Health and Rehab Therapy, Bluegrass Hospice, Tiffany Golden, John McVey, King Mining, Mountain Ridge Drilling and G & M Oil Company.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Friday between 6 and 8 P.M. and Saturday prior to the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
