Ms. Tammy Michelle Burton, 53, of Barbourville, passed away Friday afternoon, September 1, 2023 at the Saint Joseph London Hospital. She was the daughter Doris Elaine Tuttle Elliott and the late William James Elliott Sr. born on October 30, 1969 in Barbourville.
Tammy was a bus monitor with the Knox County Board of Education and attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She enjoyed going to the lake, camping, family gatherings and spending time with friends. She most loved time with her son and watching him play sports.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Bev and Gladys Tuttle and Lee and Nadine Elliott; a brother, Stacy Elliott; aunts and uncles, Shirley Elliott, Jessie Elliott, Peggy McVey, Lonnie Elliott, Gilbert Smith Sr. and Delbert Smith.
Survivors include her dearly loved son, Curtis James “C. J.” Burton of Barbourville; a brother, William James Elliott Jr. and wife, Shannon, of Barbourville; a sister, Tracy Hobbs and husband, Ted, of Flat Lick; nieces and nephews, Melanie Sams and husband, Timothy, Megan Garrison and husband, Dustin, Austin Hobbs and wife, Paige, Taylor Baker and husband, Dylon, and Cody Elliott; great nieces and nephews, Leo and Brice Sams, Hadley, Jordyn and Walker Garrison, Annie James, Tripp Hobbs and Bentley Baker; a special friend, Ed Douglas; among many other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Wednesday, September 6 at 2 P.M. with Bro. Doug Vernon officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Hampton Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Ted Hobbs, Austin Hobbs, Dylon Baker, Dustin Garrison, Timothy Sams and Johnathan Vaughn. Honorary bearers will be William James Elliott Jr. and C. J. Burton.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Wednesday prior to the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
