Obituary for Sylvia Marie Carter (1946-2024)

Mrs. Sylvia Marie Carter, age 78 of Middletown, Ohio, formerly of Cannon, Kentucky departed this life on Wednesday morning, May 29, 2024 in the Otterbein Senior Living Facility. She was born in Knox County, Kentucky on February 9, 1946, the daughter of Morris Clinton Jackson and Martha Ellen (Elam) Jackson. Sylvia earned her degree in nursing, attaining her title as a registered nurse. She also served her country in the United States Army Reserve Nursing Corp and received the rank of Captain. Sylvia was a member of the Sinking Valley Baptist Church and enjoyed working in her flowers and in her yard.

      She is preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Martha Jackson and one brother, Homer Duell Jackson and two sisters, Esther Deaton and Geneta Ruth Toomey.

      Left behind to mourn her passing, two sons, Anthony Duell Niebel and wife Mary and Aaron Dale Niebel and wife Carmalisa all of Trenton, Ohio, one daughter, Peggy Sue McCleese and husband Dusty of Peebles, Ohio, ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, two brothers, Roy Dallas Jackson of Oregonia, Ohio and Ronnie Clinton Jackson and wife Pam of Lawrence, Kansas, three sisters, Shirley Belle Grubb of Amelia, Ohio, Marcella Barnes of Texas and Peggy Overbay and husband Jerry of Cannon. She also leaves behind many other relatives and friends.

      Funeral services for Sylvia Carter will be held on Monday, June 3, 2024 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Johnny Fisher officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Jackson-Garland Cemetery at Cannon. Pallbearers will be, Anthony Duell Niebel, Aaron Niebel, Dusty McCleese, Mike Grubb, Troy Rawlings and Cody Niebel. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements,

      Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 12:00 noon.
