Obituary for Sue Eldridge (1946-2023)

Mrs. Sue Eldridge, age 76 of Artemus, Kentucky, departed this life on Monday, March 6, 2023 in the Barbourville ARH Hospital. She was born on August 13, 1946 in Trosper, Kentucky, the daughter of Jim D. Rice and Dorothy (Davis) Rice. Sue was member of the Trosper Church of Christ and was a retired instructional assistant with the Knox Co. Board of Education. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandbabies. She united in marriage with Alfred Eldredge and to this union three children were born.

      She is preceded in death by her husband Alfred Eldridge, her parents, Jim D. and Dorothy Rice, one brother, Everett Rice and a brother-in-law, Lonnie Cecil.

      Left behind to mourn her passing, her three loving children, April Mills and husband Tommy of Flat Lick, Darren Eldridge and wife Barbara of London and Serena Mills and husband Roy of Barbourville, six grandchildren, Ashley Eldridge Bethany Mills, Amber Eldridge, Brandi Mills Chloe Mills and Allie Mills, three great-grandchildren, Tucker Wagers, Taylen Wagers and Kella Crawford, three siblings, Dennis Rice and wife Pam of Trosper, Marsha Cecil of Trosper and Lonnie Rice and wife Vickie of Artemus. She also leaves behind many other relatives and friends.

      Funeral services for Mrs. Sue Eldridge will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Denver Leddington and Rev. Eric Clarkson officiating. Musical tributes will be with Charlie Bays and George Hamilton. She will be laid to rest in the Powers Cemetery at Trosper. Pallbearers will be, Tommy Mills, Roy Mills, Roland Eldridge, Bobby Cecil, Barry Cecil and Travis Cecil. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

      Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00.
