Mrs. Shirley Partin Gibson, 74, of Dayton, OH, passed away Sunday morning, February 16, 2020 at the Miami Valley Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Leffel Terrell and Nadine Adams Partin born on September 16, 1945 in Knox County.
Shirley was a retired city of Dayton employee and of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed shopping, travelling, reading, making ceramics and collecting glassware and beanie babies.
On May 28, 1966, she united in marriage with John Ray Gibson Jr. and to this union two children were born.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John, and two sisters, Goldia Messer and Geraldine Maiden and a brother-in-law, Franklin Clifton.
Survivors include her children, Michael Gibson and Robyn Kirk both of Dayton, OH; four sisters, Thursey Belcher and Carrie Swafford both of Barbourville, Gail Centers and husband, Charlie, and Nicki Hammons and husband, Ricky, all of Gray; a brother, Robert Partin and wife, Penny, of Poplar Creek; a very special granddaughter, Sydney Kirk; sisters-in-law, Kermit Ann Clifton of Monroe, NC and Billie Opal Patterson and husband, Jerry, of Belleville, MI; several nieces and nephews; a special friend, Brenda Human; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, February 22 at 3:30 P.M. with Rev. Dewayne Smith and Rev. Billy Mills officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Davis Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Johnny Broughton, Junior Messer, Scotty Partin, Robby Partin, Dustin Centers, Cody Swafford, William Messer and Jaxton Hammons. Honorary bearers will be Dr. Raymond Luna and the staff of the Miami Valley Hospital.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Saturday prior to the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
