Obituary for Shirley Martin (1945-2022)

Mrs. Shirley Martin age 76 of Jeffersonville, Kentucky departed this life on Saturday, February 26, 2022. She was born on December 27, 1945 in Bell County and was the daughter of William Finley Smith and Ruby (Miller) Smith. On December 24, 1962, she united in marriage with Paul Martin and to this union four children were born. Shirley loved to be around her family, especially her grandchildren and she enjoyed singing and going to church at Henderson Chapel.

      She is preceded in death by her parents, William Finley and Ruby Smith, one daughter Linda Fisher , a granddaughter, Amanda Lynn Bargo and three sisters, Stella Smith, Viola Eades and Sylvia Smith.

      Left behind to mourn her passing, her devoted husband Paul Martin of Jeffersonville, her loving sons, Gary Martin and wife Debbie of Corbin, Donald Martin and wife Evelyn of Turkey Creek and Steve Martin and wife Lillie of Jeffersonville, three brothers, Harold Smith of Michigan, Wayne Smith and wife Louise of Tennessee and Finley Smith and wife Charlotte of Flat Lick, four sisters, Ludenia Mills and husband Danny, Geraldine Mills and Gary, Pearl Gambrel and husband Everett all of Flat Lick, and Karen Williamson and husband Larry of Barbourville, eighteen grandchildren, Breanna Jackson and husband Steven, Ashley Sammons and husband Chad, Acey Martin all of Barbourville, Josh Bloomingburg of Corbin, Chris Bargo of Mt. Sterling, Daniel Bargo and wife Kasey of Corbin, Justin Martin and Stephanie Davis both of Indiana, Jason Martin, Cody Martin, Trevor Martin all of Mt. Sterling, Thomas Johnson and wife Amy Owensville, Tyrone Johnson, Jr. and Steven Johnson both of Montgomery County, Zachary Johnson and wife Andrea of Jeffersonville, Geneva Johnson of Montgomery County Starlie Brown and Dean Crawford, Jr. both of Scalf. She also leaves behind thirty-one great-grandchildren along with a host of many other relatives and friends.  

          Funeral services for Mrs. Martin will be conducted in the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Ramey Helton and Rev. Tim Gray officiating. Pallbearers will be family. She will be laid to rest in the Hammons Cemetery at Flat Lick. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Friends will be received at Taul Funeral Home, 109 East Main St., Mt. Sterling, Kentucky on Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m.

      Friends will be received at Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00.
