Obituary for Shirley Havana Butler (1936-2022)

Mrs. Shirley Havana Butler age 86 of Trosper, Kentucky departed this life on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at her home with her family by her side. She was born on March 16, 1936 the daughter of Wayne Collins and Dora Patsy (Lawson) Collins. On September 14, 1953, she united in marriage with Edgar Daniel Butler, Sr. and to this union seven children were born. Shirley was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ. She loved to shop and travel and work in her garden and her flowers. She especially loved being with her grandchildren.

      Preceding her in death, her husband Edgar Daniel Butler, Sr., one son, Edgar Daniel Butler, Jr., her parents, Wayne and Dora Patsy Collins, two brothers, Langley Collins and Loxley Collins, five sisters, Mabel Golden, Garnet Brown, Ruby Hampton, Ruth Marcum and Jewel Lee, two grandchildren, Daniel Wayne Wilson and David Joseph Colyer and one great grandchild, Elijah Thomas Michael Lohr.

      Left behind to mourn her passing, six children, Eva Rice of Whitley County, Marilyn Brown of Trosper, Vera Wilson and husband George of Ft. Wright, Kentucky, Mike Butler and wife Brenda of Cocoa Beach, Florida, Leslie Butler and wife Dana of Trosper, Jewel Annette Lawson and husband Donnie of Artemus and one daughter in law, Patty Butler of Barbourville, two brothers, James Collins and wife Betty of Nashville, Tennessee and Herman Collins and wife Blanche of Trosper, two sisters, Beloise Peterson of Trosper and Vera Moore of Tipton, Ohio, thirty-four grandchildren, thirty-nine great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, friends and other family members.

      Funeral services for Mrs. Butler will be conducted on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Sturdivant and Rev. Jimmy Miller officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Williams Cemetery beside her husband Edgar. Pallbearers will be, Jonah Messer Spencer Scott, Dylan Gooch, Devon Grubb, Kenny Collins, Sr. and Kenny Collins, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be, Hospice of the Bluegrass Nurses and Staff and Jamie Wider and staff of the Barbourville ARH clinic. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.

      Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
