Obituary for Sandra Lynn Canady (1942-2021)

Mrs. Sandra Lynn Canady, 79, of Barbourville, passed away in the early morning of Sunday, April 18, 2021 at her home.  She was the daughter of the late Covy and Florence Brock Lumpkins born on February 25, 1942 in Knox County.

Sandra was a former beautician, homemaker and a member of the Barbourville Church of God.  She was a lady of great faith, a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  From the time her children and grandchildren were little, she was supportive of them in their endeavors and always cheered them on as they excelled in sports in grade school, high school and college.  She loved tending her flowers, shopping, having a good meal with family and friends and listening to Elvis, one of her favorite performers.

She united in marriage with Ray Blair Canady and to this union four sons were born.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 50 years, Ray Blair Canady; a son, Mark Edward Canady; siblings, Peggy Kiser, Ragland Hall, Deanna Hicks, Covy Lumpkins Jr., Eugene Lumpkins and Charles Lumpkins and a daughter-in-law, Amy Hampton Canady.

Survivors include her beloved children, Jeff Canady and wife, Sheila, of Gray, Eric Canady of Barbourville and Brent Canady and wife, Carrie, of Lexington; a sister, Joy Disney and husband, Terry, of Corbin; cherished grandchildren, Chase Canady and Jessica, Travis Canady, Jeffrey Canady and wife, Brooke, Jared Barton and Mary Catherine, Noah Canady, Jared Brewer, Jordyn Lawson and husband, Zach, Hayden Canady and Lauren, Erica Tory Canady and Reese Blair Canady; several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews who she loved; special caregivers; among other loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Thursday, April 22 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Sylvester Dunn officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be grandsons and other family members.  Honorary bearers will be all of her many family and friends.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.

Expressions of sympathy may go to the charity of one’s choice, the Barbourville Church of God, Knox County Relay for Life, Down Syndrome Association of Central Kentucky or the JDRF KY Chapter in her memory.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
