Sally Smith Hensley, age 79 of Barbourville was born in Knox County, KY on May 8, 1945 to the late Charlie and Eva Mills Smith and departed this life on June 24, 2024 in the Baptist Health of Corbin Hospital. She was of the Holiness Faith and attended Lovell Church and Old Flat Lick Missionary Baptist Church. Sally enjoyed going to Church, Singing, time with her friends at the Horizon Adult Day Care Center, and Time with family, especially the grandchildren. On June 24, 1964 Sally was united in Marriage to Raymond Hensley and to this union 3 children were born.
In addition to her parents, her husband: Raymond Hensley, Sr.; a son: Raymond Hensley, Jr.; a granddaughter: Robin Deanna Smith; a great grandchild: Aubree Faith Collins; 2 brothers: Charles Smith, Jr., and Oscar Smith; and a sister: Eddie Smith preceded her in death.
She is survived by her loving children: Donna Wheat and husband Rev. Orangie Wheat of Cannon, and Penny Smith and husband John Smith of Flat Lick; 2 sisters: Loma Bargo of Flat Lick, and Judy Martin of Corbin; 9 grandchildren: James Wheat and wife Julia, Raymond Wheat, Lucinda Lewis and husband Rev. Justin Lewis, Donna Jordan and Dennis Mills, Tonya Collins and husband Rev. Joshua Collins, Bobbie Collins and husband Rev. Aaron Collins, Jason Martin and wife Tenesa, Jacob Martin and wife Amanda, and Austin Martin and Jazlyn; 19 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild: Bentley Ryan Stewart; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Sally Hensley will be conducted in the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Joshua Collins having the Obit and Comments, Rev. Justin Lewis having Comments, and Rev. Orangie Wheat giving the Message. Burial will follow in the Broughton Cemetery with the grandchildren serving as Pallbearers. Barbourville Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church from 6:00 PM on Thursday to the funeral hour at 2:00 PM on Saturday.
