Sally Smith, age 81 of Barbourville departed this life on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 in the Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin, Kentucky. She was born on February 24, 1940 in Clay County, the daughter of John L. Smith and Flora Jordan Smith. On May 30, 1964, she united in marriage with Earnie Smith and to this union one daughter was born.
She believed in the Baptist Faith. She was a cherished wife, mother and grandmother. She was a business owner, who loved cooking, gardening, accompanying Earnie on cattle trips and anything to do with her grandson, Tucker.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John L. Smith and Flora Jordan Smith and her mother and father-in-law, Lois and Clara Smith, and brother-in-law Dotson Callebs, sister, Lorene Smith and husband Terrel Jones, sister Pauline Smith Cooper and husband Alford Cooper and brother Ralph Smith.
Left behind to mourn her passing, her loving husband of 58 years, Earnie Smith, her daughter, Melissa Smith and fiancé Eric Barker, a grandson Tucker McCoy Smith, her brothers and sisters, Rachel Smith Callebs, sister-in-law Marie Smith, Oakley Smith and wife Gretchen and Jack Gambrel and wife June, Earl Smith and wife Betty, Preston Smith and wife Mildred, Troy and Jim Logsdon, Linda Stewart and husband Bill, Terry Smith, Aneda Smith, and Lester Smith and wife Thelma. Sally also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Thurday, October 14, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Mickey Smith officiating. Pallbearers will be Tucker Smith, Eric Barker, Ryan Broughton, Jerry Bright, Jack Gambrel and Doug Callebs. Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Smith and the staff of Daniel Boone Family Healthcare, Dr. James West, and Knox County Home Health. She will be laid to rest in the Smith Cemetery, Barbourville. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 11;00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
