Obituary for Russell Lown Mills (1936-2020)

Mr. Russell Lown Mills, 84, of Jarvis, passed away Sunday morning, December 13, 2020 at Baptist Health Corbin.  He was the son of the late Obie and Edna Bargo Mills born on October 20, 1936 at Middle Fork.

Russell was a former employee of the Kentucky Department of Transportation and a member of the Friendship Baptist Church.  He enjoyed discussing topics of the day, attending church, socializing with family and friends and was also interested in cars.  Russell never met a stranger.

On March 9, 1954, he united in marriage with Elizabeth Mills and to this union three children were born.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Elizabeth, who passed away only 20 days before him; two sisters, Zelma Brandon and Evelyn Carroll; a brother, Estil Mills and a son-in-law, Fred Hensley.

Survivors include three beloved children, Wanda Hensley of London, Deloris Farmer of Barbourville and Dennis Mills and wife, Sharon, of Gray; two sisters, Beatrice Centers and husband, Jerry, of Louisville and Betty Mills and husband, Albert, of Mt. Washington; a brother, Uless Mills of London; treasured grandchildren, Russ Hensley and wife, Vicki, Rebecca Wilkins, Adam Mills and wife, Jenny, and Cara Mills; great grandchildren, Zach, Carter and Ben Hensley, Jaden and Tylan Wilkins and Adley Mills; among other loved ones and dear friends.

A private funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Friday, December 18 with Rev. Darrel Bargo officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the Beatty Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Russ Hensley, Zach Hensley, Carlos Mills, Mike Corey and Logan Smith.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
