Ronald Ralph Hicks, age 81 of Gray, KY was born in Barbourville, KY on March 22, 1943 to the late Elmer Hix and Georgia Smith Hix and departed this life on September 30, 2024 in the Baptist Health of Corbin Hospital. He was of the Baptist Faith and was a US Army Veteran serving in Viet Nam. He enjoyed hunting Roots, fishing, watching Kentucky Basketball, and time with family and friends.
In addition to his parents: Elmer and Georgia Hix; 3 sisters: Edna Vitale, Vivian Smith, and Connie Mills; 2 brothers: Charles Hix and Jimmy Hicks; and 2 grandchildren: Alexis Hicks and Waylon Hicks preceded him in death.
Ronald is survived by his loving wife: Sherrie Mapes of Gray; his children: Angela Eversole and husband Mike of Hinkle, Daryl Hicks and David Hicks both of Woodbine, Richard Hicks and wife Shelia, and Pamela Hicks all of Gray; 2 sisters: Dianne Cain and husband Bart of Berea, and Kathie Beth Hicks of CA; 16 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren, and one on the way; and a host of other relatives and many friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral Services for Mr. Ronald Hicks will be conducted in the Barbourville Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Roy Eversole and Rev. Bill Stewart officiating. Burial will follow with Military Honors in the Smith Cemetery with family and friends serving as Pallbearers. Barbourville Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Barbourville Funeral Home on Saturday from 11:00 AM to the funeral hour at 2.
