Mr. Roger Dustin “Big D” Gray, 30, of Gray, passed away Friday morning, April 11, 2025 at Baptist Health Corbin. He was born December 27, 1994 in Corbin, the son of Roger Dale and Shannon Baker Gray.
Dustin was a former customer service representative and a member of the New Hope Ministries Church of God. He was a graduate of Knox Central High School, where he was known as “Chief”. Dustin lit up every room with his witty charm, charisma and million dollar smile. He had a bigger than life personality and everyone he met fell in love with him including animals, for which he had a soft spot. He loved listening to old country gospel music, playing card games, was the “king” of Rummikub and never missed a chance to teach others how the game was “really” played. He was an avid collector of knives, Zippo lighters and watches and enjoyed traveling to the beach. One of his greatest joys in life was being an uncle and he cherished time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bennie and Lillie Gray and Denver and Bonita “Minnie” Baker; aunts, Vickie Marie Baker, Barbara Ann Holt and Jennifer Susan Gambrel and an uncle, Danny Baker.
Survivors include his loving parents, Roger and Shannon Gray of Gray; sisters, Stephanie Nicole Gray and fiancé, Chris Johnson, and her daughter, Mackenzie Nicole Gray, and Claressa Dawn Smith and husband, Matthew, all of Corbin; grandmother, Ruth Baker of Corbin; special friends, David Gray and Steven Lee; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Tuesday, April 15 at 1 P.M. with Pastor Michael Addison and Pastor Paula Farmer officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be David Gray, Steven Lee and members of the Bailey Switch Fire Department.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the Bailey Switch, Corbin and Barbourville Fire Departments and the Knox County EMS for their many acts of kindness.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Monday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Tuesday prior to the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
