Obituary for Robert “Bobby” Valentine (1949-2021)

Robert Ault “Bobby” Valentine, Sr., 71 of Himyar, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 with his family by his side in Barbourville, Kentucky. Bobby was born January 23, 1949 in Knox County, Kentucky, a son of the late O.S & Mildred Ault Valentine. He attended Long Jack High School and later Moler Barber College in Cincinnati, OH. Bobby married in the summer of 1969 to his soulmate Jerrie.

Bobby opened Valentine’s Barber Shop in 1970 where he worked beside his two sons for the last 30 years. He served with the East Knox Fire Department and has been an active member for over 40 years, considering them his second family. In his free time, Bobby enjoyed working with the Howard Miller Company on repairing grandfather clocks and traveling with his wife Jerrie.

Bobby is survived by his beautiful wife, Jerrie Baker Valentine of nearly 52 years; his two boys, Bobby Jr. and Richard. He was a proud papaw to five granddaughters, Holly, Kayla, Brianna, Chyenne, and Kelsea, and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents O.S & Mildred Valentine; older sister, Anna Brown; baby sister, Catherine Valentine who died at birth; and brother-in-law, Frank Brown.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 11, 2021 at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memorial Gardens in Middlesboro. Pallbearers will be members of the East Knox Fire Department.
