Mr. Ricky Smith, 64, of Girdler, passed away Sunday morning, April 6, 2025 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. He was born August 5, 1960 in Knox County, the son of the late Estel Smith Jr. and Margaret Marie Wilson Smith.
Ricky was a truck driver with Laurel Grocery and a member of the Piney Grove Baptist Church. He served as deacon and Sunday school teacher and enjoyed playing gospel music on his banjo.
On December 29, 1979, he united in marriage with Judy Ann Mills and to this union two children were born.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Delora Smith Wolf and Carol Smith; a mother-in-law, June Mills; a sister-in-law, Daisy Ann Smith and a brother-in-law, William “Bill” Ferro.
Survivors include his loving wife, Judy Ann Smith of Girdler; children, Alisha Garland and husband, Steven, of Girdler and Brian Smith and fiancé, Tasha Pollitt, of Barbourville; sisters, Annette Ferro of Barbourville and Teresa Smith of London; brothers, Estel “Pjo” Smith and wife, Gail, of Gray, Gary Smith and wife, Janice, and David Smith and wife, Kristie, all of Barbourville; father-in-law, R. J. Mills and wife, Odie Mae, of Girdler; a brother-in-law, Jimmy Wolf of Girdler; grandchildren, Layla Smith and husband, Jason, Courtney Selvey, Reanna Rogers, Kyle Garland, Trey Rogers and wife, Hannah, Haley Garland, Emmalynn Smith, Allison Smith, Abigail Smith and fiancé, Noah Bargo, Lucas Garland and Jeremiah Smith; great grandchildren, Kinsley, Wendell, Mattie and Kaiden; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Friday, April 11 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Roger Liford, Rev. Nick Gunn and Rev. Brian Davidson officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Patterson Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be family and friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Friday prior to the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
