Rev. Mervial C. Newman, 92, of Heidrick, passed away Friday morning, January 24, 2025 at Baptist Health Corbin. He was born July 6, 1932 in Pineville, the son of the late Steve and Grace Hudson Newman.
Mervial was a long-time Church of God minister who enjoyed sharing the gospel with those he met. He also enjoyed watching westerns and wrestling. In earlier years, Mervial attended high school in Pineville where he played football.
On December 6, 1951, he united in marriage with Maxine Miller who preceded him in death.
Survivors include his loving children, Stevie Gail Riedman and husband, Donald, of Bellbrook, OH and Frank K. Newman and wife, Melissa, of Richmond; treasured grandchildren, Heather M. Peters and husband, Evin, Brittani Wolanin and husband, Alan, and Brooke Saylor and husband, Stevan; great grandchildren, Morgan, Dylan, Boston and Jordin Bookmiller, Brooklyn Peters, Everett and Asher Wolanin, and Kambri and Case Saylor; a great-great grandson, Kamden Dupee; special neighbors, Brian and Sherry Bohl; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, February 1 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Macel Ely and Rev. Don Napier officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be family and friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Saturday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
