Barbourville, Ky. – Rebecca Kelley Hough, 84, of Corbin, Kentucky, formerly of Barbourville, Kentucky, passed away October 4, 2021. Rebecca was the daughter of Ethel Asher Bain and Frank Bain, joyfully born to them on August 1, 1937, in Artemus, Kentucky.
Rebecca will forever be remembered as a kind, giving person who was a devout follower of Jesus. She read her Bible daily and was a dedicated member of the Harvest Home Church. Rebecca also maintained a strong, faithful prayer life – many close family members suspected she had a “direct line to God”. Rebecca was a hard worker and a wonderful homemaker. She kept a warm, welcoming, and tidy home for her family that she loved dearly, and she always made sure her children were loved and well cared for above all else. Rebecca loved spending time with her family and cooking for them. Some of her most requested home cooked meals were turkey, or roast beef, with mashed potatoes and canned green beans for dinner and, at breakfast, Dave’s favorite, homemade biscuits and gravy. Rebecca’s deserts were highly regarded as well, especially her banana pudding with vanilla wafers and her peanut butter and chocolate fudge, which, if you were lucky, she would send a batch home with you. Rebecca was indeed the matriarch of the family, passing down family traditions for generations to come. When she became a great grandmother, she earned the term of endearment “little grandma” from her great grandchildren, and she made sure to continue her late son Dennis’s custom of giving each of them a $5.00 bill for ice cream whenever they visited. In addition to loving her Lord Jesus and her family, Rebecca was also thoughtful of her community, making it a priority to volunteer every week, with her husband Frank, at the Community Food Bank. On occasion, when there was an opportunity, Rebecca would travel. She very much enjoyed seeing new places and meeting new people. Among her favorite places to visit, were Hawaii and Israel. Rebecca will be remembered fondly by all who knew and loved her, especially her family and dear friends. Although she will be greatly missed, loved ones can find comfort in knowing she is now in Heaven with her Lord and that they will surely see her again someday in Heaven.
In addition to her parents, Ethel Asher Bain and Frank Bain, Rebecca was preceded in death by beloved husband Frank R. Hough, Jr.; son Dennis Wcisel; brother’s Spence Stanly Bain, Franklin D. Bain, Herlin Bain, and Gary E. Bain; sister’s Glessie Marie Hensley, Ella D. Semo, Wanda Lois Cox, and Imogene T. Brooks.
Left behind to mourn her passing are her son David Wcisel (Cindy) of Hillman, Michigan; brothers Austin Bain of Michigan, and Donnie Herman Bain (Ruth) of Paducah, Kentucky; and sister Betty Messer Brooks of Florida. Seven dear grandchildren, Kelley Peach (Kevin), Dawn Vogel (Steve), Daryl Wcisel (Katie), David Wcisel, Jr. (Amy), Dan Wcisel (Nicole), Michael Wcisel (Andrea) and Wendy Figueroa (Abel) and thirteen cherished great grandchildren, also survive Rebecca and will treasure memories of her forever.
