Mr. R. D. Smith, 80, of Woollum, passed away Wednesday evening, April 29, 2020 at Saint Joseph London. He was the son of the late Dave and Nettie Payne Smith born on July 7, 1939 at Fount.
R. D. was a former employee of E-K Wood Products and a member of the Rock Springs Baptist Church.
On January 11, 1962, he united in marriage with Geneva Smith and to this union two children were born.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Denver Smith and his in-laws, Bill and Lola Smith.
Survivors include his loving wife, of 58 years, Geneva Smith of Woollum; two children, Tim Smith and wife, Angie, of Woollum and Wanda Davis and husband, Darren, of Georgetown; two sisters, Gladys Smith of Cannon and Sally Warf and husband, Sonny, of Virginia; two grandchildren, Chad and Devin Davis both of Georgetown; among other loved ones and dear friends.
A private family funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Sunday, May 3 with Rev. Dexter Smith Jr. officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Nan Riley Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be his family.
A drive-thru visitation will be held at the funeral home Sunday between 12:00 and 1:00 P.M. For your safety, we ask that you remain in your vehicle.
