Obituary for Powell Bingham, 84

 Mr. Powell Bingham age 84 of Scalf, Kentucky departed this life on Thursday, September 16, in the Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin. He was born in Scalf, Kentucky the son of Hugh Bob and Liza (Baker) Bingham. He had worked at Lawson Furniture and also at the sawmill. He was a member of the Salt Gum Baptist Church.  On December 11, 1963 he united in marriage with Lizzie (Mills) Bingham and to this union eight children were born.

     He is preceded in death by his wife, Lizzie Bingham, his parents, Hugh Bob Bingham and Liza (Baker) Bingham, one son, Lowell “Cotton” Bingham, one grandchild, Whitney Kendall Bingham and one great grandchild, Jacob Ethan Ward and a daughter in law Patricia (Soda) Bingham a brother, Vince Bingham and two sisters, Gracie Brooks and Axie Martin.

      Left behind to mourn his passing, three sons, Teddy Bingham and wife Mary of Scalf, Doyle Bingham of Scalf, and Wilbert Dean Bingham and wife Mickey of Scalf, four daughters, Carol Ward and husband Russell of Scalf, Mary Ann Lewis and husband Ray of Corbin, Delaine Meade and husband Shawn of Corbin and Elaine Jackson and husband Les of Corbin and a daughter-in-law, Kathy Bingham of Flat Lick.  He also leaves behind seventeen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren, two brothers, Lee Bingham of Scalf and  Herbert Bingham also of Scalf, three sisters, Eva Mills of London, Annie Mills and Imogene Mills both of Scalf. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

      Funeral services for Mr. Bingham will be conducted on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Kennon Roark and Rev. Charles Carnes officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. He will be laid to rest in the Lester Mills Cemetery at Salt Gum. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.

            Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00.
