Obituary for Pastor David Shelton (1932-2020)

Pastor David Shelton, 88, of Barbourville, passed away Monday afternoon, November 30, 2020 at his home.  He was the son of the late Maurice and Pearl Albee Shelton born on April 7, 1932 born in Paducah.

David was a member and the minister of Christian Life Fellowship.  His passion was caring for people and making sure they had sufficient food to eat.  He also served on mission trips where he ministered to children in Haiti.  In his free time, he thoroughly enjoyed fishing.

He united in marriage with Wanda Sue Lawrence, who preceded him in death.  Later, he united with Anita Jean Coryell Adams who also preceded him in death.  He then united in marriage with Linda Wilson.

Two brothers, Rev. Dale Shelton and Denver Shelton and a sister, Carolyn Shelton also preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Wilson Shelton of Barbourville; three children, Larry David Shelton of Humboldt, TN, Belvie Sue Turner of Paducah and Bonnie Gail Shelton of Barbourville; a brother, Dennis Shelton of Lamar, CO; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; among other loved ones and dear friends.

A private family graveside service will be held in the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Paducah Tuesday, December 8 with Rev. Roger Whetstone officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home and the Lindsey Funeral Home.

Please remember, per the Governor’s mandate effective November 20, 2020 all funeral services will be private.  Any person entering the funeral home is expected to be wearing a face covering of some kind at all times including graveside services and maintain the six feet of social distance.  We appreciate your help in following these guidelines so we can continue to serve our community during these trying times in the safest manner possible.
