Obituary for Ora Lee Bargo Puckett (1931-2024)

Mrs. Ora Lee Bargo Puckett, 93, of Turkey Creek, passed away Friday afternoon, December 13, 2024 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Ben and Hallie Smith Mills born April 30, 1931 at Scalf.

Ora Lee was a homemaker and a devoted member of the Turkey Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening and cooking. She was also an avid traveler, visiting several states and Israel with her Young at Heart Christian Travel Group. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family.

On February 22, 1946, she united in marriage with Rev. Obie Bargo, who preceded her in death. She later united in marriage with Carl J. Puckett on October 26, 1989 in Knox County, who also preceded her in death.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was also preceded in death by her daughters, Willa Sue Mills, Elizabeth Kay Uhlig and Donna Lynn Kinnison; infant son, Tommy Bargo; granddaughter, Nancy Lemons; brothers, Donald Ray Mills, Cal T. Mills, Lonnie Mills and Ben Mills Jr.; sisters, Diana Robinson and Beulah Smith and son-in-law, Whitley Mills.

Survivors include her three devoted daughters, Tammy Bargo of Barbourville, Teresa Cobb and husband, Wade, of Corbin and Carol Smith and husband, Ronnie, of London; sisters, Anna Sue Mills and husband, Randall, and Norma Jean Rawlings and husband, Bob, all of Dayton, OH and Bonnie Nealy and husband, Jim, of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren, Shawn Smith, Michelle Collins, Renee Grieshop, LeeAnn Smith, Nathan Greishop, Wade Cobb IV, James Edwards, Rebekah Liford, Dustin Broughton and Megan Peavley; 20 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Scott Kinnison of West Alexandria, OH and sister-in-law, Armarita Mills of Stinking Creek; several nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Wednesday, December 18 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Eli Broughton and Rev. Lonnie Collett officiating. She will be laid to rest in the W.H. Smith Memorial Gardens.

Casket bearers will be her grandsons and nephews.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday between 6 and 8 P.M. and Wednesday prior to the funeral hour.

To honor Ora Lee’s wishes, the family requests that gifts of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the Knox County Cancer Patient Fund.
