Odell Asher, 75 of Arjay passed away on Friday, April 9, 2021 at the Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington. He was born on February 26, 1946 in Red Bird, Kentucky and was the son of the late Melvin and Sarah Brock Asher. Odell served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After returning home he worked as an insurance agent for many years before operating his own coal yards in Kentucky and Tennessee until his retirement.
In addition to his parents, Odell was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Anne Smith Asher; daughters, Nancy Elizabeth Asher Slusher and Angela Kay Asher Goodin; and brother-in-law, Charles Smith.
He is survived by his son, Kenny Asher and wife, Angela of Arjay; grandchildren, Dustin Goodin, Cody Goodin, Kaylyn Goodin, Susan Johnson, Amber Knuckles, Charity Asher, and Kenny Shawn Asher; his sister and best friend, Irene Asher Smith; son-in-law, Jimmy Goodin; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 14 ,2021 at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Wagner. Music will be by Julie Wagner and family and friends. Burial will follow at the Odell Asher Cemetery in Arjay with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
