Mrs. Myrtle Sue Dean, 89, of Barbourville, passed away Wednesday evening, July 21, 2021 at the Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the daughter of the late Tom and Alice Osborne Middleton born on May 7, 1932 in Harlan.
Myrtle was a homemaker, a member of God’s Temple and a former member of the Boone Height Pentecostal Church. She enjoyed gardening, church activities and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
In October 1948, she united in marriage with Ray Dean and to this union seven children were born.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; two sisters, Sallie Schuler and Lucy Bueno; three brothers, Earnest, Dickie and Jim T. Middleton; a special son-in-law, Roger McDonald; grandsons, Ronnie Lee Roberts and James Martin Dean and twin great granddaughters, Ashley Nicole and Taylor Michelle McDonald.
Survivors include her beloved children, Glenda Hibbard of Cannon, Evangelist Brenda Grubb and husband, T. J. who she dearly loved, of Corbin, Tommy Dean of Manchester, Carolyn McDonald and Rev. Ray Dean Jr. and wife, Sandy, all of Barbourville, David Dean and wife, Tina, of Corbin and Pamela Lawson of Barbourville; a sister, Lissie Maguire and husband, Charlie, of Nicholasville; 14 grandchildren, Priscilla, Shana, Danny, Wanda, Edna, Tommy Jr., Jessica, Roger Jr., Casey, Daniel, Dakota, Calista, Draven and Derrick; several great grandchildren; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Sunday, July 25 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Pete Clark and Rev. Tim Spencer officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Derek Eubanks, K. Y. Fuson, Roger McDonald Jr., Daniel Dean, T. J. Grubb, Derrick Smith, Jerry Logan and Hunter McDonald. Honorary bearers will be Dr. Richard Carter, Sara Mills and the staff of the Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday after 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.
