Mrs. Myrtle E. Bowlin, 89, of Corbin, formerly of Barbourville, passed away Friday evening, August 9, 2024 at the Christian Health Center. She was the daughter of the late Sam and Annie Lee Smith born on February 18, 1935 in Knox County.
Myrtle was a former sales associate with Belk and a member of the Highland Park Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, tending flowers and working in her yard.
On July 7, 1953, she united in marriage with J. W. Bowlin and to this union two children were born.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. W.; two children, Myra Lynn Barton and James Brian Bowlin and sisters, Betty Ruth Baker, Reba Asher and Ethel Terrell.
Survivors include a sister, Jean Pickard of Corbin; brother-in-law, Jerry Terrell of Somerset; four grandchildren, C. Brent Barton and wife, Ashley, Rebecca Kraftick, Lori Barton and Brian Bowlin; 12 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; among other loved ones and dear friends.
A graveside service will be conducted in the Davis Cemetery Saturday, August 17 at 11 A.M with Rev. Jeffrey Branum officiating.
Casket bearers will be C. Brent Barton, C. Logan Barton, Ashton D. Barton, Reece W. Barton, Mason C. Kraftick and J. Brian Bowlin II.
Family and friends will gather at the cemetery Saturday prior to the service time.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
