Obituary for Mirella (Smith) Ray (1943-2020)

Mirella Ray age 77 of Nicholasville, Kentucky departed this life on Friday, December 4, 2020 in the Nicholasville Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born on May 11, 1943, the daughter of Walter and Dorothy Smith. She was a homemaker and loved her family and church.

She is preceded in death by her husbands’ Haskel Ray and Edward Baker, parents, Walter and Dorothy Smith, sisters, FC Smith, Rebecca Riley, Faye Micheel and brother Grover Smith.

Left behind to mourn her passing, two sons, Edward Ray of Nicholasville and Jenine Ray, of Lexington, two grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Ray and Andrew Ray, and two great grandchildren, four sisters, Priscilla Bright, Effie Edwards and husband RP, Darlene Lockhart and Jeanna Farmer and husband Jeff and one brother Dennis Smith.

Funeral services for Mirella Ray will be private. Rev. Ricky Broughton will be officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Smith Family Cemetery in Woolum. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.

All services are required to be PRIVATE. This is effective Friday, November 20, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. and will continue for the next 24 days. 

Please note, during the ongoing pandemic, there will be capacity restrictions of twenty-five (25) people total, regardless of where the services are held. This includes visitations, funerals, memorial services and graveside or committal services.

Social distancing guidelines of six feet apart will need to be followed as well during all our services. This will include wearing a face covering as mandated by the Governor of Kentucky for the safety of our families, visitors’ and staff.
