Mike Abner, age 62 of Artemus, Kentucky departed this life on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 in the St. Joseph Hospital in London. He was born on April 3, 1962, the son of James Abner, Jr. and Carolyn (Chavies) Abner. Mike united in marriage with Stella Hale and to this union three children were born. He was a member of the Highland Park Baptist Church and served in the Army National Guard from 1980 until 1992. Mike enjoyed hunting and camping at the lake and loved mowing grass. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James, Jr. and Carolyn Abner, his mother and father-in- law, Myrl and Mae Hale, several aunts and uncles and sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law and many special friends.
Left behind to mourn his passing, his beloved wife, Stella Abner of Artemus, his three children, Brooke Napier and husband Michael of Artemus, Adam Abner and wife Layken of Bimble, and Michael Abner of Artemus, his grandchildren, Tyler Abner, Mackenzie Abner, Brayden Napier, Bryce Abner, Enoch Abner, Charlee Napier, Allison Abner and Kaden Napier, his sister, Jill Angel and husband Danny of Artemus along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and special friends.
Funeral services for Mike will be held in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jared Styles and Rev. Daniel Alsip officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Abner-Stewart Cemetery at Artemus. Pallbearers will be Steve Abner, Gary Jenkins, Jeff Creighton, Tim Smith, Brian Nelson, Travis Cecil, Tony Golden and Charles Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of the St. Joseph East Hospital and the Baptist Health Primary Care Staff. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 12:00 noon until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
