Mr. Michael Wayne Helton, 48, of Barbourville, passed away Thursday evening, September 2, 2021 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. He was the son of Cynthia Ann Vaughn Baker and the late Benny Edwards born on February 1, 1973 in Barbourville.
Michael was a truck driver with Ryder Logistics and a member of the Parkway Baptist Church. He thoroughly enjoyed riding his motorcycle, traveling, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
On July 22, 2017, he united in marriage with Angela Mills.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a beloved son, Garrette Wayne Vaughn; maternal grandparents, Garrette and Helen Jean Vaughn and step-father, David Baker.
Survivors include his loving wife, Angela Helton of Barbourville; his mother, Ann Baker of Barbourville; two treasured children, Sarah and Chloe Helton both of Barbourville; three step-children, Michael Bruner and wife, Holly, Corey Bruner and Peyton Smith all of Barbourville; Dalton Brock of Dewitt, who he raised and loved as a son; a sister, Jessica Baker of Barbourville; two brothers, Benny Lee Edwards and wife, Doreen, and Mike Edwards all of Girdler; two grandchildren, Malcolm and Ryder; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, September 11 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Jerry Vaughn officiating. He will be laid to rest in the New Bethel Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Dewayne Henson, Jeff Potter, Burniel Smith, Dalton Brock, Shane Mattingly, Gary Bewley, Benny Lee Edwards and Mike Edwards.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Saturday prior to the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
