Mr. Michael McDonald, age 51 of Barbourville, Kentucky departed this life on Friday, October 15, 2021 in the UT Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. He was the son of Jess McDonald and Marie (Gray) McDonald born to them on March 1, 1970 in Pineville, Kentucky. He had worked as a coal miner and also as a carpenter. Michael enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, listening to music and being with his family, especially his grandchildren. When he went to church, he enjoyed attending Lighthouse Tabernacle.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Marie McDonald and one brother, Roger McDonald.
Left behind to mourn his passing, his loving daughter, Whitney McDonald and fiance’ Tyler Messer and two grandchildren, Bentley Mills and McKenzie Messer all of Walker, one sister, Christy Hamilton and husband Gary of Boone Height, a sister-in-law, Carol McDonald, a nephew, Roger McDonald, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Boone Height and two nieces, Jessica Logan and husband Jerry of Gray and Autumn Hamilton of Boone Height, special cousins, Robbie Hembree and Ronnie Gray of Boone Heights. He also leaves behind many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. with a graveside prayer by Rev. Jimmy Lee. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Gray, Robbie Hembree, Gary Hamilton, Roger McDonald, Den Gray, Derrick Smith and Tyler Messer. Honorary pallbearers will be all Doctors, Nurses and Staff of the UT Medical Center. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
There will be a visitation at the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home on Tuesday evening, October 19th, from 5:00 until 6:00 p.m.
