Maxine Payne Myrick, 76, left to be with the Lord and join a host of family and friends that waited for her on Saturday,September 3, 2022. Maxine was born to Charlie R. and Rebecca “Becky” Brown Payne on November 13, 1945 in Barbourville, Kentucky. On May 22, 1965 she united in marriage with the love of her life, Philip Glenn Myrick Sr., and celebrated an amazing life of 57 years together this past Spring.
Preceding Maxine in death were her parents, Charlie and Becky Payne of Bimble; a son, Philip Glenn Myrick Jr. of Bimble; a grandson, Jason Eric Brummett of Edgewood, Ky.; a brother-in-law, James Everett Myrick of Barbourville and two beloved nephews, Terry James Myrick of Bimble, Ky. and Kevin Ray Bailey of Fairdale, Ky.
Surviving Maxine are her husband of 57 years, Philip; a daughter, Kimberly Myrick Guillen (Arturo) of Independence, Ky.; a son, Charles Ancil Myrick (Ashley) of Barbourville, Ky.; sisters Ellie Helton (Don) of Louisville, Ky. and Juanita Bailey (Arvil) of Shepherdsville, Ky.; nephew Brian Bailey of Fairdale, Ky.; nieces Sherry Perry (Mike) of Barbourville, Ky. and Melissa Hoffman (Bob) of Phoenix, Az.; three grandchildren: Whitney Myrick of Barbourville; Rebecca Brummett of Union, Ky. and Travis Brummett of Florence, Ky; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great children; a special ‘daughter’, Judy Smith (J.J.) of Barbourville, Ky.; and a host of friends and family who mourn her passing but celebrate her newness of life in glory.
Maxine retired as an office clerk from Union College in 2009 where she worked in the Advancement Office, after working as an intake clerk for KCEOC’s LIHEAP program for several years.
Maxine enjoyed true crime and judge shows on television, crochet, cooking and spending time with her family, especially her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. To her family she was known simply as “Mammy”. Her love for her family was unparalleled and gave her so much joy.
A receiving of friends will take place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at Hampton Funeral Home and again from 11 a.m. to the funeral hour of 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2022 with Rev. Jim Cook and Rev. Mike Collins officiating.
Pallbearers will be Arturo Guillen, Brian Bailey, Jerry Steven Smith, Brian Smith, Chris Smith and Carl Hooker. Honorary pallbearers are Arvil Bailey, Don Helton, Harold Baker, Eddie Jones, Dr. Paul Cooney and staff at Access Family Health, and Bluegrass Care Navigators.
A graveside service will follow at Callihan Cemetery at Hinkle immediately after the funeral service.
