Mrs. Mary Ruth Asher, 89, of Brodhead, formerly of Davis Bend, passed away Saturday afternoon, October 21, 2023 at the Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the daughter of the late Cam and Florence Bays Miller born on May 26, 1934 in Barbourville.
Mary was a homemaker and member of the Flat Creek Brethren Church at Red Bird. In earlier years, she enjoyed gardening and sewing.
She united in marriage with Hamp Langdon Jr., who preceded her in death. Later on May 7, 2005, she united in marriage with Raymond Asher.
Other family members to precede her in death include her siblings, Shelby, James, Elva, Boyd, Floyd, Marjorie and Bill J.
Survivors include her loving husband, Raymond Asher of Brodhead; three step children; two precious and loved sisters-in-law, Janie and Edith; nieces and nephews, Jimmy, Marlene, Sheila, Billy, Bobby and Cammie; several cousins; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Thursday, October 26 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Dwayne Yost and Rev. David Balmer officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Miller Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be James Miller, Pete Miller, Carl Johnson, Billy Miller and Bobby Miller.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center and to Bluegrass Hospice who took great care of Mary on her final journey.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday after 12 noon until the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
