Ms. Mary Katherine “Kathy” Broyles, 63, of Barbourville, passed away Tuesday afternoon, February 1, 2022 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital. She was the daughter of the late James Miller and Nona Marie Collins Broyles born on January 31, 1959 in Cleveland, OH.
Kathy was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Barbourville. She faithfully served in many ministries at the church including the Charlotte Rock WMU Circle, AWANA, Truth Seekers Sunday school class, Ball Club, Moments with the Master and was known to be a prayer warrior. She enjoyed crafting and hosting Tupperware parties.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Powers; a brother-in-law, Roger Smith and a nephew, Scott Smith.
Survivors include her beloved son, Phillip Broyles and wife, Carmen, of Barbourville; fiancé, Daniel Essek of Barbourville; two sisters, Brenda Smith of Himyar and Georgia Donaldson and husband, Donnie, of Flat Lick; a brother, Rev. Lonnie Broyles and wife, Tammy, of Corbin; grandchildren, Robert Matyk and Hailey Matyk; several nieces and nephews who she dearly loved; special friends, Karen Sizemore of Corbin and Anna Bingham of Barbourville; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted at the First Baptist Church of Barbourville Sunday, February 6 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Tyler Shields and Rev. Lonnie Broyles officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Tony Todd, Tom Ashburn, Eric Keller, Darryl Wilson, Bill Vickers and John White. Serving as honorary bearers will be members of the Truth Seekers Sunday school class.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday between 6 and 8 P.M. and at the church Sunday after 12:30 P.M. until the funeral hour.
Expressions of sympathy may go to the Care Center at First Baptist Church 201 N. Main Street, Barbourville, KY 40906 in her memory.
