Ms. Mary Katherine Hubbard, 72, of Barbourville, passed away Saturday morning, March 27, 2021 at Baptist Health Louisville Hospice. She was the daughter of the late William Terry and Esther Cleo Broyles Pillars born on October 14, 1948 in Radford, VA.
Mary was a secretary with MSHA for 37 years before her retirement and a devoted member of the Concord Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, traveling the United States and was an avid UK fan whose favorite player of all time was Kyle Macy.
She united in marriage with James “Jim” Hubbard and to this union a son was born.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Buddy Pillars.
Survivors include a beloved son, Terry Hubbard and wife, Kristine, of Louisville; a brother, Bobby Pillars and wife, Julie of Christiansburg, VA; a granddaughter, Samantha Hubbard; several nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Friday, April 2 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Samuel Lawson officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Tim Mills, Chris Mills, Justin Mills, Dewayne Hubbard, Wayne Hubbard and Lonnie Hubbard.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday between 6 and 8 P.M. and Friday prior to the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
