Obituary for Mary Irene Patterson (1931-2022)

Ms. Mary Irene Patterson, 91, of Heidrick, passed away Monday afternoon, August 1, 2022 at her home.  She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Lillie Deaton Patterson born on June 14, 1931 in Knox County.

Mary Irene was a former supervisor with Cincinnati Bell, a member of the Highland Park Baptist Church and Daughters of the American Revolution and was a Kentucky Colonel.  She enjoyed baking, taking trips to Wal-Mart with her sister, Maggie, loved her fury friends and for many years was the overseer of the Patterson Cemetery.

She united in marriage with Jack Smith, who preceded her in death.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Maggie and Keith Lee and a brother, Cecil Patterson.

Survivors include two nieces, Jackie George of San Antonio, TX and Shawn Lee of Heidrick; three nephews, Michael Patterson, Mark Patterson and Charles Patterson all of San Antonio, TX; a sister-in-law, Lucy Patterson of San Antonio, TX; Susie Dunaway and Courtney Clouse, who she loved as daughters; a special cousin, Teresa Phipps; among other loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, August 6 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Larry Sizemore, Rev. Jared Styles and Rev. Eddie Inman officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Patterson Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Brian Bohl, Mike Deaton, David Smith, Denver  Mills, Bob Dunaway and Charlie Bill Clouse.  Honorary bearers will be her church family at the Highland Park Baptist Church.

Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.

Expressions of sympathy may go to the Patterson Cemetery Fund in her memory.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
